“NOW YOU SEE ME”

Tell your endometriosis story with the Endo Empowerment Project and make the invisible un-ignorable.

Want to be part of the world’s first

Endo Empowerment Photography project?

Living with endometriosis can feel isolating, invisible, and misunderstood — but you are not alone. This project is about reclaiming space, telling our stories, and showing the world the strength, diversity, resilience, and beauty of those living with endo. Through intimate, life-sized portraits created in safe and trauma-informed environments, we will shine a light on what so often goes unseen. These images are not just photographs; they are bold statements of visibility, courage, and connection.

The project will travel across Aotearoa, capturing people in their homes, gardens, and natural spaces—settings that reflect both vulnerability and strength. Together, our portraits will form a large-scale exhibition and online gallery, sparking empathy, raising awareness, and changing the way society views endometriosis. This is your opportunity to be seen, to be celebrated, and to help create a legacy that speaks for all of us living with this condition.

This project has been made possible by the generosity of Fujifilm NZ and Endo Warriors Aoteroa

Endometriosis empowerment photography

“One of the most invisible killers of endometriosis is perception. Perception that if you look well, you feel well, that if you’re out and about, you’re not in pain, that if you’re skinny, you’re healthy, if you’re overweight, you’re not. Endo doesn’t have a body type. It doesn’t look a certain way. Ainsley’s photoshoot was the visual demonstration of the many faces and bodies of endometriosis, and the beauty that shines through in all of us; scars, stretch marks and all. Standing in the sun, exposing our bodies in their most raw, vulnerable form, was an invitation to remember that we all have a story to tell. In sickness and in health, we are most powerful when we stand together in the light.”

Conditions

  • Model Release: You must be okay to have your images shared publicly online, in exhibitions, publicity, in print and anywhere else the shoot may end up. You will need to sign a model release form for this. If you are not comfortable with this, consider booking a private shoot instead.

  • Unclothed Photos: Images will be of people in their underwear or nude (we want to see your tummy and show how diverse endo bodies are). We may be able to come up with a more discreet option if you are not comfortable with this.

  • Health & Safety: Because some participants may have chronic pain or fatigue, shoots will be kept short (1–2 hours) and flexible. But please keep in mind that due to travel requirements we may not be able to change the date of the shoot.

  • Comfort First: Sessions will be trauma-informed, taken slow, with breaks and adjustments as needed. Participants should let me know about any physical limitations (e.g., fatigue, mobility challenges, pain flare-ups) so we can plan accordingly.

  • Age Requirement: Participants must be 18+ (or provide parental/guardian consent if under 18).
